The drama ‘Autumn in My Heart’, which aired on KBS from September 18 to November 7, 2000 (total of 16 episodes), is a sad romance drama about fateful love, separation, and pain.

After some time, Eunseo (played by Song Hye-kyo), who is working at a hotel due to poverty, is courted by Tae-seok (played by Won Bin), the son of the hotel owner, and meets Junseo (played by Song Seung-heon) again as Tae-seok’s friend. Junseo and Eunseo, who met as adults, develop feelings for each other that are more than siblings, but Eunseo’s illness causes them to have a painful separation again.

Eunseo (played by Moon Geun-young as a child) and Junseo (played by Choi Woo-hyuk as a child) were siblings who were particularly close. However, when it is revealed that Eunseo was switched at the hospital when she was young, Eunseo goes back to her original home, and Junseo leaves for the United States to forget the pain of their breakup.

“Love, don’t make me laugh. I’ll buy it with money now. How much will it cost? How much will it cost!” Won Bin (as Taeseok)’s line in the drama remains a memorable line even after the drama ended, and Moon Geun-young’s tearful acting as the child Eunseo conveyed the best sadness.

The drama ‘Autumn in My Heart’ was the first of Director Yoon Seok-ho’s seasonal series (‘Winter Sonata’, ‘Spring Waltz’, ‘Summer Scent’) filled with beautiful seasons and love. In particular, it attracted attention because it featured the most popular stars of the 2000s, including Song Seung-heon, Song Hye-kyo, and Won Bin, and it was an impressive drama with a tragic ending as a TV drama.

2000년 9월 18일부터 11월 7일(총 16회)까지 KBS에서 방송된 드라마 ‘가을동화’는 운명적인 사랑과 이별, 그리고 아픔에 대한 슬픈 로맨스 드라마다. 
시간이 흐른 후 가난 때문에 호텔에서 일하고 있는 은서(송혜교 분)는 호텔 사장아들인 태석(원빈 분)에게 구애를 받고, 태석의 친구로 다시 준서(송승헌 분)를 만나게 된다. 어른이 되어 만난 준서와 은서는 남매 이상의 감정을 느끼게 되지만, 은서의 병으로 다시 아픈 이별을 하게 된다. 
유달리 사이가 좋던 은서(아역 문근영 분)와 준서(아역 최우혁 분) 남매. 그런데, 은서가 어릴 때 병원에서 바뀐 사실이 밝혀지면서 은서가 원래 집으로 가게 되고, 헤어짐의 아픔을 잊기 위해 준서네는 미국으로 떠난다. 
“사랑, 웃기지마, 이제 돈으로 사겠어. 얼마면 될까? 얼마면 되겠냐!”는 극 중 원빈(태석 역)의 말은 드라마 이후에도 오랜 시간 기억되는 대사로 남았고, 은서 아역으로 나왔던 문근영의 눈물연기는 최고의 애잔함을 전달했었다. 
드라마 ‘가을동화’는 아름다운 계절과 사랑이 담긴 윤석호 감독의 계절시리즈(‘겨울연가’, ‘봄의 왈츠’, ‘여름향기’)의 첫 시작이었다. 특히 송승헌, 송혜교, 원빈 등 2000년도 당대 최고의 인기스타들이 출연해 관심을 받았고, TV방송 드라마로 비극적 결말이 인상적이었던 드라마다.
