Movie Review 'Cinema Paradiso (1993)' The man who left on the 99th day

I happened to turn on the cable and saw the movie 'Cinema Paradiso'. I was still moved by the touching melody of the music I heard while watching 'Cinema Paradiso'.

I especially like the music in this movie (I like Ennio Morricone~),

The reason is that when I was in high school, my friend Zid recorded my favorite songs on tape... At the end, he put on the theme song of 'Cinema Paradiso' and said, "Hmm... It's me... My voice is lost..."

I think of this song as the best song because I remember recording it. I listened to it for a while to the point that the tape was stretched out...

When I think of the memories, I say, "Tsk!"

I'll write down a story that came to mind again from the movie I saw yesterday.

Once upon a time, a king held a ball. All the beauties of the country gathered, and a soldier on guard saw a princess passing by. The princess was the most beautiful of all. So the soldier fell in love.

But the soldier couldn't do anything about the princess. Then one day, the soldier finally spoke to the princess. He said he couldn't live without her. The princess was surprised by his deep thoughts and told the soldier.

If you wait for 100 days and nights under the balcony, I will accept your love.

The soldier went down under the balcony. One day. Two days. Ten days... The princess looked down every night, and the soldier waited. He waited when it rained or snowed or the wind blew, and he didn't move even when birds built a nest on his head or bees stung him.

And 90 days passed.

The soldier was covered in white snow. Tears fell from his eyes. But he didn't have the strength to wipe them away. He didn't have the energy to see. The princess watched the scene.

On the 99th day, the soldier got up. And he left.

In the movie, the reason is not given.

He only leaves a message saying that he will tell her when he finds out the reason.

Some say…

The soldier was afraid that the princess would not keep her promise.

The reason he left the princess’s window with only one day left was because he was afraid of how much pain the disappointment would be if his love, which was more precious than life, did not come true.

But what I thought while watching yesterday…

I thought that it was because the soldier waited for the princess without being able to control his body, and the princess cruelly did nothing while watching that. If he had even a little love for the soldier, shouldn’t he have considered the soldier’s love for the princess important and let him stop halfway, rather than keeping the 100 days?

After 100 days, it seems that the love disappeared not because he was heartbroken by not being able to receive love, but because he was disappointed in the person he loved who treated him that way.

Today was a classic movie. I will share with you the music and images from Cinema Paradiso that will make you cry. Today, I will go home and look for the tape that my friend gave me as a gift.
